I’m gonna start a weekly blog post about things I love. Artist, books, movies, art, fashion, just anything I love. I hope you love it too!
This week the featured artist is Allister Ann. She is a photographer from Nashville. I love, love her work. A couple of years ago I stumbled upon her blog and since then I’ve been keeping an eye on her work. It’s hard for me to explain why I love her so much. I guess it’s her way of seeing things. The way she frames her photographs is amazing. Most of her photographs are made with an analog camera. She also works a lot with instant camera’s.
I love this advice she gave in an interview:
“My only advice is to always, I mean always, have a camera with you. Talent grows by consistently working at it.
If you’re truly an artist, you do it because you have to. There’s a hole or void in yourself that you crave to fill, and that’s what draws you and compels you to keep at it. If you’re lucky enough to make a living at it, that’s a bonus, but never a necessity, because you’d do it anyway … just because you love it that much.”
I especially love her series of The Civil Wars. Allister shoots them while they’re on tour. She chose to shoot all the photos in black and white because it fits the band. I think they are all very beautiful but below are some of my favorites.
